We did it! Bromley Speakers is officially a Select Distinguished Club for 2025-26.
This Toastmasters International award recognises clubs that provide a positive environment where
members can develop their communication and leadership skills, while continuing to grow and
operate successfully.
Bromley Speakers achieved seven key goals during the year, earning Select Distinguished status.
And the best part? This was a team achievement.
From members completing speeches and progressing through their learning programmes, to
welcoming new members and everyone who helped keep our meetings and club running, we all
played a part.
What I particularly like about those numbers is what sits behind them. Every educational award
represents a member giving speeches, receiving evaluations and progressing through a Pathway.
Every new member represents someone who visited Bromley Speakers and decided that this was a
club they wanted to join.
What does it mean for Bromley Speakers?
For me, the award is recognition of something our members already experience.
We have a club where people can walk through the door as a nervous first-time guest, with
encouragement and support, eventually find themselves delivering speeches, taking on meeting
roles, entering contests, mentoring others and becoming club leaders.
That is ultimately what the Distinguished Club Programme is intended to encourage. Toastmasters
describe high-quality clubs as places that support member achievement, provide a supportive and
enjoyable environment and offer well-organised meetings that help members grow.
The Select Distinguished recognition tells us that we are heading in the right direction, but it also gives
us something to build upon.
Thank you, Bromley Speakers
As Immediate Past President, I am incredibly proud of what we achieved together during 2025-26.
So, thank you to everyone who delivered a speech, evaluated a fellow member, took on a meeting
role, welcomed a guest, mentored someone, completed a Pathways level, brought along a new
member, served as a club officer or simply turned up and supported the club.
This award belongs to all of us.
Let’s display our Select Distinguished ribbon with pride and, more importantly, continue creating the
supportive, friendly and ambitious club that earned it.
Congratulations, Bromley Speakers!
